Dear Parents and Guardians, Our district is engaging in a public discussion regarding improvements and/or enhancements to arts education in the OCDSB.

Featured guest speaker: Katie Weatherston

The SMPS School Council is pleased to announce a presentation on goal setting by Katie

Weatherston in our school gymnasium on Monday January 30, 2012 from 12:30 to 1:30 pm.

Ms Weatherston is a hockey player who has won gold and silver medals playing for the

Women’s National Hockey Team and she also carried the Olympic Torch in 2010.

The presentation will be for Grades 3 to 6 and parents are welcome to attend.

Book Fair and Jars Event November 23

SMPS will be having a Scholastic Book Fair along with the

Jars Jars Jars event on Wednesday November 23 from 6:00

to 8:00 pm. Children will have a chance to view the books on

Tuesday with their classes and can buy the books on

Wednesday in the library. All profits from the Book Fair will

be used to purchase additional books for the SMPS library.

We are still looking for donations of jars with items a child

would enjoy. Children can purchase a jar for $3.00. Please

drop off your jar before November 21.

We will also be holding a Guess the Number of Buttons game

where children can guess the number and be entered to win

a gift basket. Tickets are 1 for $0.50 or 3 for $1.00.

OCDSB Extended Day Program Consultation

Extended Day Program (Full Day Kindergarten Early Learning)

 

As part of the implementation of Full Day Kindergarten, the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is offering
Extended Day programming to children. We want to hear your opinions, your thoughts and your concerns 
so that together we can develop workable strategies to implement the Extended Day program. 
Two community evening presentations have been planned -- we hope you will attend.

Info Session -- Monday October 17 2011 - Sir Robert Borden High School Auditorium @ 7pm
Public Presentations -- Thursday October 27 2011 - Confederation Education Centre Cafeteria @ 7pm

Dr. Pascal will be the guest speaker for the Info Session!!
